The Lord’s Prayer

By shelteredwind

Just a few thoughts on The Lord’s Prayer, or the “Our Father”…

I’m still processing my thoughts on this one so please bear with me

If we start with the assumption that we believe we all come from, and are part of a single universal soul, which through the power of intention/the law of attraction/the power of subconscious/what ever you want to call it, can manifest desires or thoughts, then the prayer takes on new meaning.

Is it possible that taking what Jesus said in too literal a sense that we lost the true meaning of the prayer?

Ok, the prayer…

Our Father, who art in heaven (Everything is the physical manifestation of a single soul or spirit. It makes sense then to see this as a parent figure. Why a male parent…don’t know yet!)

Hallowed be thy name (We revere the name of our creator/seed/originator…Why wouldn’t we!)

Thy Kingdom come (To be at one with the universal soul/infinite intelligence/God/whatever name you wish to give it is the desire of many (if not all perhaps…more on this later)

Thy will be done (Ok, this is interesting. The idea of the law of attraction basically means that if you think and believe it, then it will become real. So if you truly desire something, then the universe makes it real. Originally the sentence “Thy will be done” was taken to mean that we should do what God says, but in this case it can mean that whatever the universal soul, or infinite intelligence (which we are all a part of) desires will come to pass

on earth, as it is in heaven (Things thought of or created in the subconscious/soul/infinite intelligence, are made manifest in the material world/conscious reality)

Give us this day our daily bread (Is this just an intention of desire…”Daily bread” representing whatever we desire)

and forgive us our trespasses (If negative thoughts enter our subconscious then we manifest negative desires, so to create what we actually want in a positive sense we need to forgive ourselves/love ourselves)

as we forgive those who trespass against us (As above if we harbour ill intent toward toward ourselves or others we will manifest negative effects, so we need to carry only positive thoughts and intentions for both ourselves and others)

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (I need to think on this more, but again as we can see, at the very least it is encouraging us toward positive thoughts and intentions rather than the opposite)

Looking at the prayer from this perspective it would appear to me that it is a form of intention manifestation. I need to think on this some more but I thought I’d put the idea out there anyway…

What are your thoughts?

First of all, I have had chills the entire time I have been reading your post. I’m still gettting them!!! Thank you so much for sharing it with me. I do agree with your interpretation of The Lord’s Prayer. From a metaphysical standpoint, it certainly does speak to “intention manifestation” through The Law of Attraction. I am not religious, but that particular prayer has always resonated with me for some reason. Now I know why! Have you interpreted any other writings? You have the makings of a book here!

    In Peace and Light,

    Hi Robin,

Thanks for your reply. I’ve been thinking about this area for a long time but I’m only very new to writing and blogging about it so your comment gave me a great boost to my confidence. I haven’t interpretated anything else yet (at least I haven’t written it down) but I have a lot of ideas I’m working on. It’s great to see that someone understood and appreciated what I’m getting at and to discover I wasn’t just talking gibberish!

    Many Thanks,

    Enjoy it all everyday,

    Shane
